Michael Chiang is Fandom's Chief Business Officer, overseeing functions like the Community and Content teams. His background is in Content, and oversees all the original and video production on Fandom, ScreenJunkies, Fandom Entertainment, and Fandom Games YouTube channels, as well as the occasional big project like our Galaxy Quest documentary, "Never Surrender".

He's also Brandon Rhea's boss. Please be nice to him.

History

Being born too early to play Ultima games or read fantasy novels professionally, Michael began his career making hairspray (for real) for two long years. After a stint in business school, Michael worked for ten years at Activision on everything from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater to Call of Duty to Guitar Hero, specializing in using insights to develop & market new IP. In one of the gaming industry’s “sequels only” phases, Michael transitioned to digital media where he was a part of creating and building YouTube channels such as ScreenJunkies, Awe Me, Clevver, and Smosh Games. Michael has been a part of Fandom since ScreenJunkies was acquired in 2018.

  • In 2020, Michael led one of the breakout sessions on video: what we're doing, what our intention is, and what we're exploring for the future.
  • In 2023, he will be part of the Fandom Brand Overview session.
